According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention:
- In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 13.7 minutes, claiming more than 38,000 lives each year.
- It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute, with close to one million people attempting suicide annually.
The Foundation holds a series of walks to raise money for research aimed at improving our understanding of suicide and ways to prevent. Funds also go towards educational programs to increase awareness about prevention, warning signs and the psychiatric illnesses that can lead to suicide.
This year, Dragon’s Blood Rising put together a group of people to walk in Christopher’s memory at local Out of the Darkness walks.
